These are nice combinatorial structures, useful both in pure theory and in optimization. Read here, for instance...
MACEK is a set of tools and routines for (reasonably) efficient structural computations with representable matroids. Written in 2001-2007 by Petr Hlineny, it is intended mainly to assist matroid and related pure theory research. MACEK is free, open-source under the GPL license.
Before downloading and installing MACEK on your computer, you may try its capabilities online, here with this java-applet interface. (This is a client-server tool, running MACEK on our server, and so its computational capabilities are restricted!) Of course, you need JRE installed on your computer, and associated with your browser.
Unless you are already familiar with MACEK, you also need to read Macek manual (available in PDF.)
Czech grants FRVS 2270/2005 and GACR 201/05/0050.
